Oldies But Goodies – Sparkys in Hatch, NM

December 22, 2019 – 12:30 pm

Come and listen to oldies music, remember 45rpm records.

Sparkys has grown to be a major roadside attraction known for their World Famous Green Chile Cheeseburger and great BBQ and live music. The World Famous Green Chile Room hosts weekly music events from major name players.

So if you are looking for a tasty bite, good music, and a lot fun, make Sparkys BBQ a stop on your next road trip through the Land Of Enchantment!

Hatch, NM is a reasonable short drive north of Las Cruces. You can get there via I-25 but I prefer the back road, it’s just a more leisurely drive following the river valley. I’m going to start from Tractor Supply on Valley Drive at about 11am (allowing 45 minutes for travel and wait in line). I have two additional seats in my car and suggest that others rally and car pool from Tractor Supply parking lot.

Tortugas Mountain Wake-up Hike

January 10, 2020 – 7:00 am

A morning beat-the-heat hike! Come meet us at Tortugas Mountain (aka “A Mountain”, because it has a big “A” on it). It’s an urban mountain with many, many hiking trails to explore. Imagine the refreshing moment of overviewing the city with cool morning breeze in the shade at the mountain top. It’s a nice and quick workout to begin a day, and we will hike mostly in the shade (because we are early enough:)
